Viewing this site from an iPad or iPad mini . . .

If by chance you are using an iPad or an iPad mini to view this site, you may have recently experienced a strange format . . . it is called a "mobile" view format.

I have discovered that the browser Safari is somehow assuming you are using a mobile device and changes the look of this site as well as many blogs that you visit to "mobile view".  This is fine for an iPone, but for my iPad, it stinks!

Hopefully, something will be done about this in Safari, but in the meantime here is what you can do to get the site to look "normal" again:

Scroll to the bottom and click on the link "view web version"

OR

Bookmark this address below which turns off the mobile format automatically for you:

35th Anniversary Luncheon

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful committee who worked on the details of our Anniversary Lunch.  Judy Herdeg was our chapter member of Vicmead Hunt Club who suggested we choose Vicmead for our luncheon site.

It was a beautiful day in a perfect setting for the speaker, the exhibit, our delicious lunch and being with most of Brandywine Chapter members.

Judy was also able to book our wonderful speaker, Tricia Wilson Nguyen, hosted her and got her back and forth to the airport.  Tricia helped us by agreeing to come for a one-day event in her very busy life.

Karen West and Kathy Adams put together our slide show with lots of pictures from our chapter archives.  We will have to see that again.  Nancy George and Jackie VanGrofski made our perfect-for-the-season centerpieces.

Karen Shueler and Kathy Adams were responsible for the exhibit of the work of chapter members.  JoAnn Mchugh made the invitations for you all and Cleo Robbins and JoAnn put together the scissor fobs for the favors.

Jean Snyder was responsible for the R.S.V.P.'s and providing the number of attendees.  Thanks to our membership who invited friends and came in record numbers to help celebrate our 35th.

It was like planning a wedding with lots of wedding planners to help.  Thank you all!  I am already looking forward to our 40th!

In the Pumpkin Patch

On September 11th & 12th, about 20 stitchers met to learn the stitches of Debbie Steihler's "In the Pumpkin Patch".  We met old and new friends and a good time was had by all who attended.

Cleo Robbins hosted a delicious dinner on Tuesday evening and the fun continued.  I believe that I speak for all that attended that we really ought to do a national teacher more frequently.

Watch for our finished projects to see how beautiful the pumpkins are when they are finished!

  • Embellish the printed fabric any three-dimensional embroidery the stitcher would like to do

2012 Challenge #2

THE MONOCROMTIC SCHEME CHALLENGE

The second challenge had the following requirements:
  • All will use the same line drawing
  • Choose your fabric and techniques and stitching
  • The color will be a monochromatic scheme. Meaning all in one color family. Simply explained as a color and the addition of different amounts of white. So, blue down to palest blue for example. Background color should be taken into consideration to be in color scheme.
  • Color assigments were different for each stitcher. (Stitchers could trade color schemes, but no two stitchers could use the same.)

Suggestions:
  • If you do not want background color of fabric to show - print, paint, add fabrics or whatever.
  • The design is a line drawing and as such contains no shading areas or details but you may certainly add some while you stitch.
  • Design can be outlined or not.

Challenge #2 was presented at the January Quarterly Meeting 2012.

Challenge Results:

KATHY ADAMS
